2nd Shift Shot Peen Operator

Located at our Landing Gear Services facility in Medley, FL, the Shot Peen Operator, 2nd Shift is responsible for performing shot peening operations on landing gear and associated aerospace components in accordance with engineering specifications, OEM standards, and customer requirements. This role ensures structural integrity and fatigue resistance of critical parts through controlled surface treatment processes, contributing to the safe and reliable operation of aircraft landing gear systems.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor shot peening equipment to treat landing gear and related components.
- Interpret and follow work instructions, technical drawings, and process specifications.
- Select and verify appropriate media type, size, intensity, and coverage based on process instructions.
- Calibrate and maintain Almen strips, gauges, and other peening verification tools to ensure OEM compliance.
- Inspect finished parts to confirm proper coverage, intensity, and adherence to OEM specifications.
- Record process data, inspection results, and maintain accurate job documentation.
- Adhere to company and regulatory safety requirements, including proper handling of equipment and protective gear.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and cleaning of shot peen equipment and surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering on process deviations or nonconformances.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the shop.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
- Prior experience in aerospace shot peening or surface treatment strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process specifications, and work orders.
- Knowledge of Almen test strip usage and process verification.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and process recording.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
