We are the Jet Engine MRO located at Helsinki Airport, Finland looking for a Development Engineer to take ownership of processes within our MRO operations and drive operational excellence through optimization, automation, and lean methodologies.
As a Development Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our production and maintenance processes are efficient, standardized, and aligned with quality, cost, and performance targets. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity, reliability, and long-term manufacturing capabilities.
This is a fixed-term position till the end of the year 2026 with potential for continuation based on future business needs. At GATES, we value teamwork and close collaboration, and we work on-site at our office right at the heart of aviation activity.
Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain existing process products, ensuring compliance with performance and quality standards
Develop and introduce new technologies, automation solutions, and improved manufacturing methods
Identify and implement process optimization opportunities
Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow efficiency
Provide technical support and troubleshoot production system issues
Lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
Drive continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and operational efficiency
Ensure cost-efficiency while maintaining high quality standards
Develop and enforce standardized processes across departments
Define, track, and analyze KPIs related to efficiency, productivity, and quality
Monitor progress of improvement initiatives and ensure alignment with strategic goals
What We’re Looking For Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in process development, manufacturing, or MRO environments
Experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate or similar)
Familiar with Lean, Six Sigma, A3 problem-solving, or other continuous improvement methodologies
Experience with ERP systems and production data
SQL Server & Reporting experience (SSRS, database restores, debugging performance, large dataset import/export)
Skills & Competencies

GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES) is a full-service engine overhaul and repair station located at the Helsinki International Airport in Vantaa. GATES provides comprehensive commercial engine services including repair and overhaul services for General Electric and CFM International engines. GATES has been approved by more aviation authorities than any other company in Finland. The facility operates out of a 16 000 m2 building that houses an integrated test cell and back shop capabilities. Additionally, GATES has a Logistics center located in Vantaa, Aviapolis. GATES started in 2013 and currently has around 280 employees.
