The Planning Manager is responsible for planning all maintenance activities associated with commercial aircraft engines and modules. This includes creating work packages, defining labor requirements, coordinating material needs, tracking project milestones, and maintaining production schedules. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance Operations, the Planner ensures all maintenance documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with FAA Part 145 requirements while supporting on-time engine delivery and cost control.

Responsibilities: 

Work Scope Development
  • Review customer work scopes, contracts, and maintenance requirements.
  • Develop engine work packages based on customer requirements and OEM maintenance manuals.
  • Interpret Engine Maintenance Manuals (EMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs).
  • Define required inspections, repairs, modifications, and testing.
  • Prepare travelers and job cards for all maintenance tasks.
Production Planning
  • Develop and maintain detailed engine production schedules.
  • Coordinate workflow through disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, testing, and shipping.
  • Monitor daily engine status and identify schedule risks.
  • Balance manpower requirements with production priorities.
  • Support recovery plans for schedule delays.
Material Planning
  • Identify required parts, tooling, and outside vendor services.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Monitor parts shortages and recommend alternatives when appropriate.
  • Track repair orders and vendor turnaround times.

Technical Coordination
  • Coordinate with Engineering regarding repairs beyond manual limits.
  • Support disposition of non-routine findings.
  • Ensure engineering orders are incorporated into work packages.
  • Verify planning changes are properly documented.
Documentation
  • Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records.
  • Update ERP/MRO software with planning information.
  • Ensure work packages remain current throughout the engine visit.
FAA & Quality Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements.
  • Follow the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and company procedures.
  • Maintain document revision control.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with OEM-approved maintenance data.
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • A&P License with 5 years experience
  • In depth computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Previous MRO Planning department experience
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience with GE CF6-80 series as well as CFM56 Series engine planning
  • Commercial engine related technical expertise
  • 121 Airline experience with planning inside an ERP
